Project R.O.V.E.R. was a collaborative research initiative between the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and West Virginia University's Hearts of Gold program.
It centered on investigating the impact of pets and assistance dogs in supporting U.S. veterans' reintegration to civilian life and their return to employment. The primary goal of Project R.O.V.E.R. was to delve into the ways in which service dogs contribute to the rehabilitation process for veterans coping with disabilities.
